Public Securities Migration to SogoTrade FAQs

NDTCO is migrating all public securities, including mutual funds, to SogoTrade.

What is changing?

NDTCO has added a specialized retail brokerage platform to the services we offer our clients. SogoTrade specializes in holding and trading public securities. NDTCO will be transferring all public securities holdings to individual client SogoTrade accounts, linked to your NDTCO account.

Why is NDTCO moving away from directly holding public securities?

This move allows NDTCO to focus on what we’re good at - administration and reporting of alternative assets, while continuing to provide our clients with a specialized public securities solution - SogoTrade.

What if I don’t want a SogoTrade account?

If you do not want a SogoTrade account, we must receive the transfer-out paperwork from the receiving custodian, or the Sell Direction Letter (SDL) from you before 5:00PM MT April 1, 2026.  On April 2nd, any public securities in your NDTCO account that are not part of a liquidation or transfer will be moved to a new Sogotrade account held by your IRA.

How do I Transfer my Securities to Another Custodian:
  1. Contact the brokerage firmwhere you’re transferring your shares to start the paperwork with them. You will likely need to set up an account with this new provider if you do not have one.
    1. The receiving broker will likely require you to:
    2. Complete a Transfer Initiation Form or Letter of Authorization (LOA)
    3. Provide a copy of your most recent NDTCO account statement
    4. Provide your full NDTCO account number.
  2. Once NDTCO receives the ACAT request from the receiving firm:
    1. We will take action within 7-10 business days.
    2. If the request is accepted and in good order (i.e., there are no issues), the transfer will settle within 5–7 business days of initiating the transfer.
How do I Liquidate my Public Securities:
  1. Login to your NDTCO account and fill out a public securities sell direction letter (SDL).
  2. We will liquidate your public securities and bring the cash from the sale into your NDTCO account.

Is there a deadline to transfer my account to another brokerage if I do not want to migrate?

Yes, we must receive the transfer-out paperwork from the receiving custodian, or the Sell Direction Letter (SDL) from you before 5:00PM MT, April 1, 2026.  On April 2nd, any public securities in your NDTCO account that are not part of a liquidation or transfer will be moved to a new Sogotrade account held by your IRA.

What if I don’t take Action?

This is what is considered a negative consent notification. If you don’t take action, on April 2nd, any public securities in your NDTCO account that are not part of a liquidation or transfer will be moved to a new Sogotrade account held by your IRA.

How will my assets be migrated?

Your securities will be securely transferred in-kind via the ACAT system to SogoTrade. Your public securities will be transferred directly to a SogoTrade account linked to your NDTCO account.

How long will the asset transfer take?

The transfer to SogoTrade will take 5-7 business days and will be initiated April 2, 2026.

Standard market fluctuation over the course of the 5-7 business days will apply. Any market change in the value of your public securities will be reflected in your SogoTrade account once the transfer is complete.

How will I gain access to my new SogoTrade account?

As soon as the transfer is complete, you will receive an email from NDTCO regarding the next steps to finalize access to your new SogoTrade account.

How will my public securities asset value be reflected in my NDTCO account after the migration?

In your NDTCO account, you will see one sum total value for public securities labeled – SogoTrade. The value attached to your SogoTrade account will update weekly. In your new SogoTrade account, you will see all individual holdings and their individual values.

Does this impact any of my other investments in my account like private equity, real estate or precious metals?

No. Only securities traded in the stock market, including mutual funds, will be moved to your new SogoTrade account. None of your other investments are impacted.
