How to Transfer to a New Custodian
Here’s how the transfer out process works, step by step:
- Choose a new custodian that is willing to accept the investment.
- Open an account with the new custodian.
- Work with the new custodian to start a transfer request.
- The new custodian sends the transfer request to NDTCO.
- Once NDTCO receives all required documents from your new custodian, we will begin the ownership reassignment to the new custodian.
When NDTCO completes its part of the transfer, you’ll receive confirmation in the NDTCO Client Portal. This confirmation means NDTCO’s work is done. You must confirm with the new custodian that they have completed their portion of the transfer.
How will I know if more information is needed from me to complete my transfer?
If we need anything else from you, NDTCO will contact you through NDTCO Client Portal messages and you’ll receive an email alert letting you know a new message is available.
Are there fees for transferring my holdings?
- Transfer-out fees can be found on our Fee Schedule.
- Any past due administration or late fees are still owed and must be paid before the transfer can be completed.
